Advisor joins Arlington based Pacific Region Security Corp.

Dr. Jerry A. Galt an expert on hazardous spills and tracking has joined Pacific Region Security as the first member of the Board of Advisors.
Dr Galt is the former Chief of the Office of Response and Restoration’s Hazardous Materials Response Division within the National Ocean Service of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Seattle, Washington.
Under his direction, microcomputer-based models were developed to estimate pollutant movement and effects in the air and water. One such model is Areal Locations of Hazardous Atmospheres (ALOHA™), which is now used by over 10,000 emergency response organizations throughout the world.
Major spill responses include the Argo Merchant, Amoco Cadiz, IXTOC I oil well blowout, Mobiloil, Alvenus, Rio Neuquen, Puerto Rican, Arco Anchorage, Presidente Rivera, World Prodigy, Exxon Valdez, Nestucca, Mega Borg, and the Persian Gulf oil spill.
Prior to joining NOAA, he was an assistant professor of oceanography at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
His awards include three U.S. Department of Commerce Silver Medals, NOAA Unit Citation for performance on the IXTOC I oil spill, and the U.S. Coast Guard’s Distinguished Public Service Award for performance on the Exxon Valdez oil spill. He is a graduate of the University of Washington (1963, 1967, and 1968), receiving his Ph.D. in physical oceanography in 1969. He is the author of numerous technical publications and articles on oceanographic circulation and pollution forecasting.
